What\’s your experience that lead you to this role?
I graduated from University of Strathclyde with a BSc Honours in Environmental Health and went to work for Shanks and McEwan (Northern) Ltd (now Renewi). The role involved carrying out environmental monitoring and latterly compliance audits at a site across the UK. After 5 years great experience I moved to a new waste company Barr Environmental Ltd to open and run their new landfill site in Ayrshire, Garlaff landfill site. The following year the company bought Auchencarroch landfill site and I was the Operations manager for both sites and associated activities. At this time recycling was still in its infancy and these sites handled over 500,000 tonnes of waste per annum. I had a brief spell (4months) at a clinical waste incineration company in Ayrshire prior to establishing Albion Environmental on 1st Jan 2002.
I am a fellow of CIWEM and CIWM, chartered member of Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) and actively contribute to SWITCH and RMAS.
What\’s your favourite project you\’ve worked on at Albion?
My favourite project and the most challenging has been building a successful and diverse team at Albion. Favourite part of working with Albion is gaining new customers and delivering a quality service to help them progress their own organisation.
Tell us something interesting about yourself?
I was a qualified skiing and windsurfing instructor when I was at University – ideal student jobs!!
When I\’m not working you\’ll find me.. running lots or walking the office dog Charlie. Or training for my next big event the Cape Wrath Ultra!
