Alasdair Meldrum

Managing Director
BSC(Hons), CEnv., FellowCIWM, FellowCIWEM, MInstLM, CMIOSH

An experienced senior manager who has worked in waste management and environmental services sector for over 25 years. After 10 years working with waste management companies Alasdair established Albion Environmental Ltd which provides training and support services to waste management and associated industries. Alasdair is a fellow of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management and the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management. He also acts as an External Verifier for the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and holds a number of Certificates of Technical Competence including Managing Treatment Hazardous Waste (4TMH), Managing Landfill Operations (LS4), Managing Incinerator Operations Special Waste (INC4) Managing Transfer Operations Clinical or Special Waste (TSS4).

Jane Bond

Project & Business Development Director
BSc Hons, MSc

Jane has worked in the waste and resources industry for over 25 years and is an experienced project manager and commercial director. She has a proven record of managing multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high quality work on a variety of projects. Jane has experience in a wide range of areas including sustainability, circular economy, waste management licencing and permitting, risk management, waste strategy and training for waste management professionals. She also has experience in supporting businesses in resource efficiency to reduce costs and maximise outputs. Jane is a member of the Chartered Institute of Wastes Management and is a qualified Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor for road transport.

Andrew Howlett

Project Director
BSc Hons, MRes

An experienced Environmental Scientist, project manager and trainer who has worked in environmental consultancy for over 17 years. Andrew is experienced in undertaking and reporting contaminated land risk assessments, remedial strategy development and validation, waste classification, materials management, production of environmental management plans and environmental compliance auditing. He is also experienced in the preparation of waste management licence exemptions and permit applications and variations. Andrew has successfully managed a wide range of environmental projects on a variety of sites including residential and commercial developments, landfills, recycling facilities and medium to large infrastructure e.g. railways, overhead power lines and wind farms.

Neil Duncan

Business Development Director

Neil Duncan is a highly experienced leader in waste management transformation with over 30 years of expertise in driving operational excellence across public and private sectors. Specialising in modernisation, turnaround, and operational optimisation, he has led large teams and managed multi-million-pound budgets, achieving significant performance improvements. Notable achievements include restructuring services at North Lanarkshire Council, saving £3.2M, and spearheading Clearwater’s transformation, increasing revenue and positioning the company for growth. Known for his collaborative leadership style, integrity, and focus on talent development, Neil is committed to creating sustainable, high-performing teams and delivering lasting success.

Ruben Breuls

Senior Consultant

Ruben brings to the team over 20 years of experience as an environmental engineer. Having worked both in the UK and the Netherlands, Ruben has managed a variety of environmental disciplines including, waste management, contaminated land, hydrogeology, asbestos and additionally, has experience with Quality Management Systems. As a senior consultant, Ruben’s main role is to provide support to clients with their planning permission applications and various licence applications (PPC and WML), whilst also providing support for the wider consultancy team. Ruben is an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Wastes Management and he recently qualified to deliver and develop training courses to groups.

Calum Tait

Environmental Technician
BSc(Hons)

Calum graduated from the University of Glasgow with a BSc (Hons) in Geography in 2022. Since joining Albion in 2023, he has gained extensive experience, undertaking fieldwork including surface and groundwater sampling, gas monitoring, bioaerosol monitoring, trial pitting validation groundworks, and site investigations. His consultancy experience includes remedial strategy development and validation, environmental compliance auditing, waste related permitting and licensing, soil waste classification, soil reuse assessments, desk studies, and data management.

Helanna Cooper

Environmental Technician

Helanna holds a WAMITAB – Level 2 qualification in Sustainable Waste Management and a HNC in Construction Management. With 10 years’ experience within the environmental and construction industry Helanna brings an array of knowledge and expertise to our consultancy services. She plays a key role in various aspects of Albions’ operations, collaborating closely with our team to uphold high standards of compliance. Her responsibilities include conducting bioaerosol and dust monitoring, carrying out site investigations and environmental sampling, conducting environmental monitoring, supervision of drilling works and trial pitting for CQA and contaminated land purposes.

Vishwaraj Badam

Civil Engineer

Vishwaraj Badam is a skilled professional who holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and has recently achieved a PG certificate in the same field. As a dedicated member of our team at Albion Environmental, he has taken on the role of a CQA Engineer. Vishwaraj’s responsibilities include ensuring quality assurance in construction projects, utilising his expertise in civil engineering. His contributions aid in maintaining high standards and quality in our services. We are pleased to have Vishwaraj on board and look forward to his continued growth within our team.

Jill Thomson

Senior Consultant
BSc Hons
A professional environmental scientist with over fifteen years’ experience in the industry. Jill has worked on a number of contaminated land investigation and environmental monitoring projects in the role of site supervisor / risk assessor / project manager either as part of a team on large multi-disciplinary projects or as project manager on small to medium sized projects. Jill has particular experience in undertaking contaminated land risk assessments, development and validation of remediation strategies, technical reviews of 3rd party reports, water supply pipe selection assessments, soil waste classification assessments, production of environmental management plans, waste management licence applications, variations and exemptions and organising environmental monitoring of landfills and waste facilities.

Jayne Carson

Office/Finance Manager
BA
Experienced in working in a busy Administration Office environment, with full competence in terms of computer literacy and Microsoft office applications. Jayne’s main role is handling Accounts Administration for Albion; she works towards a continued process analysis and improvement within finance function including financial controls. Jayne also provides assistance to the financial planning process for internal review and upward reporting. In addition to her finance responsibilities, Jayne also oversees the day to day Facilities Management of premises at Damside and Vehicle Fleet Management. She assists and coordinates with the upkeep of our accredited BMS systems.

Susan Deakin

Training Business Development Manager
EnvDipNEBVOSH, PIEMA
Susan has worked within the sustainability and environmental sector for over a decade with experience in the construction sector, environmental auditing, waste management and training development. She has a passion for waste, recycling and general sustainability as well as a proven track record for creating and delivering training content on a variety of topics including waste, energy, sustainable transport, time management and organisational skills, to name a few. Susan is a practitioner of Institute of Environmental and Management and Assessment.

Kirstie MacDougall

Office & Training/VQ Administrator
Kirstie has over 10 years’ experience of working in a vast range of administrative environments, which has enabled her to be competent in using all the Microsoft office tools as well as being able to cope under pressure and deal with deadlines. She has skills and experience in analysing wide ranges of data as well as problem solve any issue a client may have. Kirstie has previously arranged and organised training events across the UK to assist with client’s personal development.

Charlie Meldrum

Office Pet
Charlie was the Meldrum family pet who was quickly adopted by the Albion team as the office pet. He was a valued member of the team for over 10 years, providing lots of fun and companionship fo those in the office and greeting visitors with a wagging tail. In January 2022, we said goodbye to Charlie but he will remain a huge part of Albion Environmental’s history and will be sorely missed by all.
