A report published by the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) provides valuable insight into the current picture with regard to the export of refuse-derived fuel (RDF) and solid recovered fuel (SRF) and highlights a number of key issues that CIWM says need to be considered further.
The report, commissioned by CIWM and entitled \’Research into SRF and RDF exports to other EU countries\’, was carried out by AMEC Environment & Infrastructure UK Ltd. It brings together the latest data on export destinations and volumes, as well as exploring current practices, standards, and regulatory approaches. It also considers this export trade in the context of UK and Irish requirements for renewable and alternative energy sources.
The research was intended to gather evidence to inform the funders on this important and strategic topic.
