From 1 March the Continuing Competence testing platform will be provided by Pearson VUE; the key changes in making this transition are:
· The cost for each test is fixed at £105 and a maximum of three options can be taken at any one time. The cost for a re-test is the same; and
· Candidates select their option(s) at the test centre and must know which options to take before entering the test centre.
As part of this transition WAMITAB has made significant enhancements to the WAMITAB web site, including the following sub-navigation extract under Continuing Competence:
· Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs): before contacting WAMITAB please read this section carefully as it will answer many of your questions about the test;
· All waste activities: this section provides information on the different tests which are available depending on the competence you wish to maintain;
· Previous Exemptions: this section refers to individuals who held a management role in relation to an exempt activity which now requires a permit;
· CIWM/WAMITAB Tutorial: if you need to take a Continuing Competence test this tutorial explains how the test works and what you will see when you get to the test centre proper. You will be asked again to take the tutorial at the beginning of your actual test to reinforce your understanding of how the test operates; and
· Which Test? This provides information on which option(s) to select and the syllabus for each option. It also provides Information, Advice and Guidance to help people prepare for the test.
This information is designed to help candidates select their option(s), if appropriate, and to prepare them for the test proper. Our experience has shown that thorough preparation is the key to success.
Centres can help their candidates by looking at the information on our web site and signposting people to the FAQs etc.
