CIWM\’s Midlands Centre has teamed up with the City of Copenhagen to offer, with the support of the Danish (Dakofa) and Swedish (Avfall Sverige) Professional bodies for waste management, a unique opportunity for staff to apply for two-week secondments to work alongside colleagues in leading Swedish and Danish Waste companies. The aim of the programme is to experience first hand a different way in tackling health and safety performance in an industry that now has less than 5% waste disposed to landfill.
Opportunities currently exist with various private recycling companies, intermunicipal waste treatment companies and private waste collection companies. They include small to medium sized business operations in collection and recycling as well as major intermunicipal waste treatment companies using waste to provide energy for electricity, hot water and steam for local business and residential areas.
