The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA) has published two annual reports on progress since the Anaerobic Digestion (AD) Strategy and Action Plan was launched. The second of these was published on 12 August 2013.
The industry has continued to develop with 110 operational AD plants by July 2013 (up from 54 when the AD Strategy and Action Plan was published). The action plan has tackled barriers to the industry’s development – for example the availability of finance and removing red tape. DEFRA expects to complete the action plan this year.
