Update for all WAMITAB COTC Candidates 16th April 2020

We are delighted to report that all WAMITAB COTC training and assessment work is progressing well during Covid-19.  We are getting candidates inducted fully via remote links and we are working through all the candidate work being uploaded by candidates.  Internal verification is progressing as normal and awarding bodies such as SQA and WAMITAB are working as normal so we are receiving candidate certificates through.

We are trying to make sure we cover all the options for candidates and have taken time to ensure candidates who are on the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Job Retention Scheme (furlough scheme) are still able to progress their qualification.

HMRC guidance published 26 March 2020 is quite clear;

‘A furloughed employee can take part in volunteer work or training, as long as it does not provide services to or generate revenue for, or on behalf of your organisation’.

We are aware that a number of our candidates and clients have a number of employees who find themselves ‘furloughed’ due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is an ideal opportunity to start, progress and complete your WAMITAB qualification.

We know that for some employee’s access to company e-mail and server have been curtailed, which may cause some problems but does not stop work fully. We have the following system in place to support these candidates;

  • Access to our online platform Learning Assistant – please contact Kirstie, your Assessment Centre Co-ordinator who will be able to assist in getting access to the portal, via another e-mail address. To contact Kirstie by email please click here
  • Another issue is you might not be able to access practical evidence stored on company/council IT systems. Although access to evidence can be problematic it is worth remembering that over 50% of most awards are achieved by demonstrating your Underpinning Knowledge of specified subjects and this is normally recorded on worksheets provided by your assessor. If you require support with this please contact your assessor or your Centre Co-ordinator.

Albion has been delivering WAMITAB assessments since 2002 and has been using online learning platform Learning Assistant for over 5 years, so we have the experience of delivering these qualifications via these platforms, and have not suddenly realised we need to modernise because of Covid-19.
