Alasdair Meldrum
Managing Director
An experienced senior manager who has worked in waste management and environmental services sector for over 25 years. After 10 years working with waste management companies Alasdair established Albion Environmental Ltd which provides training and support services to waste management and associated industries. Alasdair is a fellow of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management and the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management. He also acts as an External Verifier for the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and holds a number of Certificates of Technical Competence including Managing Treatment Hazardous Waste (4TMH), Managing Landfill Operations (LS4), Managing Incinerator Operations Special Waste (INC4) Managing Transfer Operations Clinical or Special Waste (TSS4).

Jane Bond
Project & Business Development Director

Jane has worked in the waste and resources industry for over 25 years and is an experienced project manager and commercial director. She has a proven record of managing multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high quality work on a variety of projects. Jane has experience in a wide range of areas including sustainability, circular economy, waste management licencing and permitting, risk management, waste strategy and preparation of business cases for waste facilities. She also has experience in supporting businesses in resource efficiency to reduce costs and maximise outputs. Jane is a member of the Chartered Institute of Wastes Management.

Andrew Howlett
Principal Consultant

An experienced Environmental Scientist and project manager who has worked in environmental consultancy for over 12 years. Andrew is experienced in undertaking and reporting contaminated land risk assessments, remedial strategy development and validation, soil waste classification, materials management, production of environmental management plans and environmental compliance auditing. He is also experienced in the preparation of waste management licence exemptions and permit applications and variations. Andrew has successfully managed a wide range of environmental projects on a variety of sites including residential and commercial developments, landfills, recycling facilities and medium to large infrastructure e.g. railways, overhead power lines and wind farms.

Gerry McCabe
Principal Consultant
Highly experienced manager with over 25 years knowledge of the waste industry, including a significant time in the design, development, construction and management of all types of waste management facilities. Gerry has experience in obtaining all kinds of permissions, permits, licences and exemptions for waste management facilities including planning and permitting. On top of this Gerry is also able to offer advice on operational matters either to improve the efficiency of the facility or to help resolve any regulatory or operational issues. An excellent ability to communicate and involve other interested parties. Gerry holds a number of Certificates of Technical Competence including Managing Landfill Operations Special Waste (LS4). He has the knowledge and experience to develop long term solutions associated with waste management including developing new facilities, negotiating contracts and obtaining finance.

Stella Consonni
Senior Consultant & Researcher, Qualified Lawyer
An enthusiastic and experienced Environmental Consultant who has worked within the integrated waste and resource management field for over 10 years, including circular economy approaches such as open loop and closed loop. Stella is experienced in undertaking robust research, evidence gathering and analysis, and has also successfully managed and delivered a variety of projects for private and public organisations. Stella has wide knowledge of relevant Environmental Legislation such as UK, EU and International Compliance related to producer responsibility of post-consumer packaging, WEEE, batteries and International Legal Requirements on the export of waste for recovery (OECD, EC/WSR and Basel Convention), including green list wastes and used automotive lithium-ion batteries. Stella has been working with Waste Management Licence and PPC Permit applications for a variety of waste management operations and materials such as metal recycling, plastic recycling, inert waste recycling, composting etc.

Les Thomson
Technical Consultant
Over 20 years’ experience as an Environmental Technician Consultant, mainly as a field worker with considerable experience of sampling methods and procedures in hydrological ground water and surface water sampling, gas monitoring and landfill monitoring. Supervision of small drilling works and trial pitting during geotechnical and contaminated land investigations, validation groundworks capping on housing development sites, and installation of environmental monitoring boreholes.

Jill Thomson
Environmental Consultant

A professional environmental scientist with over twelve years’ experience in the industry. Jill has worked on a number of contaminated land investigation projects in the role of site supervisor / risk assessor / project manager either as part of a team on large multi-disciplinary projects or as project manager on small to medium sized environmental projects. Jill has particular experience in undertaking contaminated land risk assessments, development and validation of remediation strategies, technical reviews of 3rd party reports, water supply pipe selection assessments, soil waste classification assessments and environmental compliance auditing.
Fraser Christie
Environmental Consultant & Site Technician,
BSc Hons
Fraser has environmental experience in the Private, Public and Third Sectors. He has a regulatory background and has carbon reduction and project management experience. Fraser also has international experience, spending eighteen months working abroad for EPA-Victoria before joining Albion. In his role as Environmental Consultant and Site Technician he has conducted environmental monitoring, compliance assessments, Occupational Health and Safety assessments and assisted with waste management licence applications.

Jayne Carson
Office Manager
Experienced in working in a busy Administration Office environment, with full competence in terms of computer literacy and Microsoft office applications. Jayne’s main role is handling Accounts Administration for Albion; she works towards a continued process analysis and improvement within finance function including financial controls. Jayne also provides assistance to the financial planning process for internal review and upward reporting. In addition to her finance responsibilities, Jayne also oversees the day to day Facilities Management of premises at Damside and Vehicle Fleet Management. She assists and coordinates with the upkeep of our accredited BMS systems.
Heather Beattie
Marketing and Business Development Consultant
Heather recently graduated with a 1st class BA Honours degree in Business from the University of the West of Scotland and has joined the team at Albion as part of a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with UWS to help Albion develop their marketing and business strategy. Working alongside the team at Albion, Heather will share her expert knowledge of successful marketing strategies and help to develop Albion’s brand and expand customer and client base. Heather will work with Albion to share knowledge and practical marketing techniques to gain competitive advantage and improve overall business and marketing processes.

Jennifer Kowalski
Environmental Assistant
Jennifer recently graduated with a 1st class BSc degree in Biology from the University of Aberdeen. She then completed a 6-month environmental analysis internship with Zero Waste Scotland, in which she worked on the Carbon Metric. Jennifer now joins us as part of a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Project, working with the Open University to help Albion acquire the knowledge, in-house capabilities and technical expertise to complete bioaerosol assessments. Working alongside internationally renowned experts in the field of bioaerosol monitoring, the role will provide the opportunity for Albion to acquire the knowledge, skills and practical experience of completing environmental and occupational health bioaerosol assessments, analysis of results, and provision of recommendations of improvements to clients.
Kirstie MacDougall
Administrative Assisant
Kirstie has over 10 years’ experience of working in a vast range of administrative environments, which has enabled her to be competent in using all the Microsoft office tools as well as being able to cope under pressure and deal with deadlines. She has skills and experience in analysing wide ranges of data as well as problem solve any issue a client may have. Kirstie has previously arranged and organised training events across the UK to assist with client’s personal development.
David Storrie
Environmental Site Technician
David has recently graduated from the University of the West of Scotland with a masters in waste and resource management and has began training to become a new environmental site technician for Albion environmental. In this role David will sample and monitor various sites to ensure environmental compliance is achieved for all of Albion’s clients and also perform various waste analyses. This is a great opportunity for both David and Albion environmental to utilise the knowledge and skills gained from David's master’s degree in waste and resource management and put it to good use.

Yas Watson
HR/Office Administrator
Yas has over 25 years’ experience in the private sector having worked for a cross section of major blue-chip companies. Her key skills and experiences are in the organisational, administrative and coordination roles, mainly supporting senior teams and directors. In her current role with Albion Yas is involved with the up keep and administration of the Business Management System (BMS) standards and accreditation together with Albion’s social media, and a range of administrative duties to support the consultancy and business development team.
