This half-day training course is designed to provide workers in the waste management, contaminated land and construction sectors with a clear introduction to the risks associated with asbestos exposure.
It meets the legal requirements set out in Regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations (CAR) 2012, which mandates that anyone who may come into contact with asbestos during their work—along with those who supervise them—must receive appropriate training.
Objectives
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
Recognise the health risks associated with asbestos exposure
Identify the three main types of asbestos
Understand the key diseases linked to asbestos exposure
Know what to do if asbestos is discovered or disturbed on site

This course aligns with the guidance provided in Section 235 of L143 – the HSE’s Approved Code of Practice (ACoP) and guidance document “Managing and Working with Asbestos.” It is suitable for all staff who may encounter asbestos in the course of their duties.
Course Pre Requisites
A good command of spoken and written English is required to participate effectively.
