CQA - Technical Support

With considerable experience of landfill operations the company is pleased to provide technical support for your site. This includes:-

• Preparing liner specifications, preparing CQA plans and carrying out CQA on a liner system.
• Preparing capping specifications, preparing CQA plans and carrying out CQA on a capping layer.
• Preparing drilling specifications, preparing CQA plans and carrying out CQA on drilling operations.
• Proposing and operating leachate pumping systems.
• Proposing and operating leachate treatment systems.
• Proposing, installing and operating landfill gas extraction system.
• Preparing Working Plans and Site Documentation.

COTC Cover

As former waste managers we fully understand the difficulties of providing COTC cover for your site. We provide temporary and support COTC cover for the following categories-

Level 4 Waste Management Operations:

In order to make providing temporary cover as cost effective as possible for your business we will be pleased to carry out additional work while we are on your site. For example while providing cover for 1 week we can carry out WAMITAB training and assessments for other members of staff, review your Working Plan etc.

Environmental Monitoring

Environmental monitoring of sites is designed to identify problem areas before they become major issues. Junior staff or busy managers who have more pressing issues to address frequently carry out the monitoring work. This results in the data not being used to the advantage of the site.

Albion Environmental Ltd. specialise in providing routine environmental monitoring work. Albion Environmental Ltd. will provide the following when carrying out routine monitoring:

• On-site and off-site gas sampling and monitoring
• Leachate and groundwater level monitoring
• Groundwater, surface water and leachate sampling
• FID gas surveys
• List I & II sampling
• ATEX approved equipment

As part of our service we also provide detailed reporting to both client and regulatory authorities which include:

• Detailed sampling methods for inclusion in your Working Plan
• Provision of sample analysis at very competitive prices
• Detailed risk assessments for all monitoring activities
• Complete report of work carried out and results
• Weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports as required with trend analysis, complete review per sampling location, executive summaries and action requirements
• Review of previous data as required
• On approval forward report to SEPA
• Immediately warn company of any potential pollution incidents and assist in providing remedial action

Temporary Site Management

As experienced Waste Professionals we understand the pressures that modern Waste Managers are now operating under. We operate a comprehensive temporary or support site management service. This service can be incorporated with our other key services, for example WAMITAB training, to provide cost effective solutions to your problems. We specialise in assisting smaller companies who cannot afford full time staff or large consultancy firms. The work is tailored to suit your requirements but frequently we find it is to improve site operations to satisfy regulatory requirements.

Some examples of the work currently being carried out in this area are as follows

Straid Farms Landfill Ltd - Providing day-to-day site management for a Special Waste Landfill Site. In addition the following is carried out - operation of the leachate treatment plant, gas extraction system, engineering of future cells, capping works and environmental monitoring.

Hamilton Clinical Waste Ltd - Providing assistance to the company, which operates a clinical and special waste incinerator and a special waste transfer station.

• Preparing Section 11 PPC changes to the site Authorisation
• Preparing application for site to accept radioactive clinical waste
• Preparing planning application for the site accepting Special Waste
• Preparing Waste Management Licence application for a Special Waste Transfer station
• Carrying out safety and environmental audit of site

Waste Management Tenders

Currently working with a number of clients providing pricing and operational details for major waste management tenders. This work is currently ongoing and is confidential. Alasdair Meldrum has considerable expertise in this field having prepared a number of major tenders and two PPP tenders. This is backed up by considerable experience in the operational and practical aspects of servicing such a contract.
