Waste protocols (converting waste to product)

What is Waste?

The definition of waste given in the Waste Framework Directive (75/442/EEC) is:

“any substance or object in the categories set out in Annex I which the holder discards or intends or is required to discard”

As landfill tax and disposal costs increase it is important that firstly we do not unnecessarily define material as waste. We can do this by careful planning at the design stage to ensure there is no surplus material. Often however waste is produced and frequently the only options to put it to beneficial use are to either use the material under a Waste Management Licence exemption or to try and convert it into a product.

In order to convert into a product we generally need to meet the requirements of a protocol. We have particular experience with the following protocols
