SQA External Verification Visit for Assessor Awards (A units)

SQA conducted a successful EV visit on Albion centre relating to the Assessor Qualifications we now deliver. Outcome of visit was very successful with EV commenting under Good practice section –

1. Very detailed and candidate friendly induction material and very clear guidance on evidence requirements and standards
2. Discussion during induction of common errors in assessment
3. Observations carried out by both Primary and Independent Assessors.
4. Use of mentor in the workplace to provide further support to candidates.
5. Trainee Assessor policy for centre’s other awards commits the candidate to effective assessment practice in line with A1 standards and includes 8 hours of candidate assessment observation by A1 assessor.
6. CPD as a planned activity not merely recorded.

Albion is delighted that SQA continue to recognise the high standard we operate to with the training and assessment centre.

If you have any queries regarding the assessment awards please do not hesitate to contact Alasdair Meldrum.

Train to Gain

Albion is delighted to be able to offer support with training for local authorities and waste management companies via Train to Gain. The Train to Gain programme has three distinct phases –

• Skills for Life – if required this will be arranged by Albion direct with WAMITAB who have the necessary qualified staff to deliver this section. There is no funding implication for either party if Skills for Life is required.
• 15hrs Structured training
• Assessment of either level 2 or 3 National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) in Waste Management.

It is recognised that there are significant, large scale opportunities within this programme to deliver this work for both existing customers and new customers. As a Train to Gain Approved centre this work is fully funded and we can deliver this work for “free” to clients. However we strive to “win” this work by offering a better service than our competitors. Key areas where we can deliver a quality service are –

• Make the organisational arrangements for the client as simple as possible.
• Provide a streamlined and efficient system for gathering data and completing associated paperwork.
• Tailor the 15hrs structured training to suit client requirements
• Deliver high quality training and assessment.

We have now been selected by a number of local authorities to deliver their training via the train to gain programme.
If you wish to discuss this programme please contact Lynda Owen.
