Luce Bay Plant Hire Ltd received planning permission on 13/10/03 for a waste transfer and recycling facility at Droughduil near Stranraer. The facility will provide a valuable waste transfer and recycling facilities for the local business and farming community in the area. At present the only alternative facilities are large distances away or landfill sites which provide no facilities for recycling.

Albion Environmental Ltd has provided all the necessary technical support to Luce bay Plant Hire Ltd for this successful application. A Waste Management Licence Application is now being prepared for submission to SEPA, by Albion Environmental Ltd. Albion Environmental Ltd is also uniquely placed in being able to carry out this work and at a later date deliver the WAMITAB Certificate of Technical Competence (COTC) training for the sites operators.

Albion Environmental Ltd has developed a specialist service to small skip and waste operators who wish to develop their facilities. This service builds on the existing infrastructure and expertise available within the company. Albion Environmental will then provide costed proposals to fill the gaps as required. This service is so successful we are currently working on four similar projects.

Albion Environmental Ltd has been contracted to provide the first pilot Waste Awareness Certificate Course in Scotland. The course will be provided late October 2003 to employees of South Lanarkshire Council. The course is targeted at all staff who deal with waste during their work. It covers the legislative requirements and the various recycling and disposal options. It is also designed to try and encourage employees to consider ways to reduce waste and to encourage re-use of waste. The course is approximately 6 hours long, and designed to encourage candidate participation.
