An experienced senior manager who has worked in waste management and environmental services sector for over 20 years. After 10 years of working with waste management companies he established Albion Environmental Ltd which provides training and support services to waste management and associated industries. Alasdair is a fellow of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management and the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management. He also acts as an External Verifier for the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and holds a number of Certificates of Technical Competence including Managing Treatment Hazardous Waste (4TMH), Managing Landfill Operations (LS4), Managing Incinerator Operations Special Waste (INC4) Managing Transfer Operations Clinical or Special Waste (TSS4).
Andrew Howlett, Principal Consultant, BSc Hons, MRes
An experienced Environmental Scientist and project manager who has worked in environmental consultancy for over 8 years. Andrew is experienced in undertaking and reporting contaminated land risk assessments, remedial strategy development and validation, soil waste classification, materials management, production of environmental management plans and environmental compliance auditing. He is also experienced in the preparation of waste management licence exemptions and permit applications and variations. Andrew has successfully managed a wide range of environmental projects on a variety of sites including residential and commercial developments, landfills, recycling facilities and medium to large infrastructure eg. railways, overhead power lines and wind farms.
Gerry McCabe, Principal Consultant, BSc, MCIWM, CEnv
Highly experienced manager with over 20 years knowledge of the waste industry, including a significant time in the construction, management and restoration and closure of landfill sites. Has the ability to provide the most economic solution to the client which satisfies all stakeholders including regulators. Gerry is also aware that sites may still be operational whilst engineering works are taking place and accepts that there should not be any conflict between operations and capital works. An excellent ability to communicate and involve other interested parties. Gerry holds a number of Certificates of Technical Competence including Managing Landfill Operations Special Waste (LS4).
Stella Consonni, Senior Consultant & Researcher, Qualified Lawyer, LLM, MSc, AIEMA
An enthusiastic and experienced Environmental Consultant who has worked within the integrated waste management and resource efficiency field for over 9 years, including circular economy approaches such as closed loop and remanufacturing. Stella is experienced in undertaking robust research, evidence gathering and analysis, and has also successfully managed and delivered a variety of projects for private and public organisations. Stella has wide knowledge of relevant Environmental Legislation such as UK, EU and International Compliance related to producer responsibility of post-consumer packaging, WEEE, batteries and International Legal Requirements on the export of waste for recovery (OECD, EC/WSR and Basel Convention), including green list wastes and used automotive lithium-ion batteries.
Grant Wilson, Consultant/Trainer & Assessor, MCIWM
A Chartered Waste Manager with over 20 years experience in Local Authority ranging from Facilities to Waste Management. Grant recognises the importance of environmental compliance, safety, health and wellbeing and has successfully driven programmes to raise standards and compliance in all these aspects within the waste arena. Grant’s intuitive insight has been beneficial in not only identifying needs, it has also been vital in development and delivery of service improvements. Key skills developed include Environmental Protection, Environmental Auditing, Health & Safety and Consultation/Communications.
Jonathan Love, Environmental Manager, MA, MCIWM, Tech IOSH
Jonathan has 10 years of experience in Occupational Health & Safety auditing, compliance and preparation of documents; 8 years of experience in Waste Management consultancy, compliance, Environmental Monitoring and Waste Compositional Analysis; and, 8 years of experience in developing, maintaining and auditing Quality (ISO 9001), Environmental (ISO 14001) and Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems (OHSAS 18001). Jonathan holds the following Certificates of Technical Competence: Managing Treatment Non-Hazardous Waste, Managing Landfill Non-Hazardous Waste, Managing Transfer Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Waste.
Fabio Dalmonte, Environmental Consultant, MSc, LCIWM
Management engineer specialising in waste management and clean technologies with four 4 years experience in corporate and environmental sustainability consultancy. Fabio is committed and passionate about the environmental and waste management sector and has developed studies on water pollution and waste management in developing countries, presenting the results at international scientific conferences. Fabio is also experienced in material recovery facilities and organic waste composting plants.
Jill Thomson, Environmental Consultant, BSc Hons
A professional environmental scientist with over ten years’ experience in the industry. Jill has experience in undertaking phase one desk studies, phase 2 site investigations, quantitative risk assessments, production of investigation reports, development and validation of remediation strategies, technical reviews of 3rd party reports and environmental compliance auditing. In addition, Jill has successfully managed a variety of small to medium environmental projects.
Jayne Carson, Office Manager/Centre Coordinator, BA
Experienced in working in a busy Administration Office environment, with full competence in terms of computer literacy and Microsoft office applications. Numerate with good interpersonal skills along with decision-making abilities, effective organisational skills and the capacity to work under pressure and meet deadlines. As centre coordinator responsible for all course arrangements and ensuring Albion Environmental comply with the various awarding body (SQA, WAMITAB, IOSH and CIWM) requirements.
George Hawthorn, Sales Manager, AILMS
George joins us from Suez Advanced Solutions where he was Business Development Manager working closely with environmental consultants and waste management companies. George has also previously worked with some of the major water authorities including Severn Trent Water and Scottish Water as Business Development Manager. Additionally, he is a qualified Biomedical Scientist with many years of clinical experience.
Yas Watson, Office Administrator
Yas has over 20 years experience in the private sector having worked for major blue chip companies. Her primary skills and experience are in the organisational, administrative and coordination roles, mainly supporting senior teams and directors. She has organised a number of corporate events, many which involved arranging international venues and travel. At Albion Environmental, Yas will work with the team to research and build on the opportunities available to grow the business internationally by supporting UK and International government initiatives with the skills and services Albion can provide.
Dylan Brown, Business Admin Assistant
Dylan joined Albion as a modern apprentice and has now successfully completed his Level 3 SVQ in Business Administration. He provides office administration services to support the office administrator & centre coordinator. Experienced in working in busy customer service roles, with good interpersonal skills and efficient organisation and time management. Competent in use of a range computer applications including Microsoft Office. Dylan is able to work under pressure without compromising on quality of work.
Craig McClurkin, Modern Apprentice
Craig McClurkin has joined the team as a Level 3 Modern Apprentice and will be completing a vocational qualification in Digital Applications. Craig comes from a background in customer service roles which will serve him well in his new function. His duties will involve supporting business administration and training delivery which will provide a platform to further develop his excellent communication, organisational and IT skills.
Charlie Meldrum, Office Dog
Charlie has been a valued member of the Albion team for over 7 years. His main function is to keep staff happy and stress free and greet visitors at the door. He is the beloved pet of the Meldrum family but enjoys working part time at Albion.
